When my goiter hasn’t been diagnosed yet, i had problems sleeping. First, I was always palpitating. Just imagine sleeping with palpitations….you just can’t sleep. When I was diagnosed, problem with sleeping was the first thing that the doctor pinpointed. When you have sleeping problems, you tend to get all other problems. It is easy, we all need a good night’s sleep to recharge our body.

Just imagine if you can’t sleep for days and weeks. Then you won’t be able to eat well. Then everything else will spiral downwards. Good thing I didn’t resort to sleeping pills. I’ve always thought they have more harsh side effects than good.

When I was already given anti-thyroid medicine, I immediately noticed getting better nights. I can already sleep. But then by that time I have already a huge sleep deficit, I lost a lot of weight in the process.

These days, there are nights I still can’t sleep. But I blame it mostly on stress. Of course I only have sleeping problems right now like 15% of the time. Which is already good. Last night, I slept like a log. Now I feel like conquering this hectic week ahead!

Water has been scarce in the past week in our city house. First, there must really be a water shortage even in this provincial city. Second, the owner of the house we are renting died 10 days ago (he was 93).

So there was some sort of ‘family reunion’ at his wake which was held in the main house (the landlady’s house). Therefore a lot of people are using the water in the said house, practically 24/7.

Moen kitchen faucet or not, it still can get annoying when tap water suddenly disappears in the middle of washing the dishes or doing the laundry. We have a drum for storing water at night for our water consumption in the morning. What with Raine going to school and all…

Mornings have always been a battleneck with water. Since our water pipes are connected to the main house’s water meter, we are kind of dependent on their water consumption. If their taps are open, water doesn’t make it to our house. It’s that simple.Water pressure problem really. Oh, and volume too! :(

Times likeĀ  these, I really do miss the high-pressured hot water coming out of the tap in LB! Hayyy…

This day last week, I got out of the hospital. Second time I got sick in 2 months. Life is tough, I really got to take more care of my health. Else, everything just falls apart.

Anyways, it was a bad case of tonsilitis and UTI combined. Then there’s my goiter of course…

This time around, it took me 5 days and 4 nights in the hospital. With the help of friends and my Philhealth (not social security disability!)…I was able to cover the bill in time for the doctor’s discharge order. There were a total of 3 doctors that looked into me while confined in the hospital (internist, head and neck surgeon and endocrinologist) so just imagine the PFs I had to pay. By the way, the internist didn’t do much. Except refer me to the next doctor! (Ang suplado pa!) But then he charged the highest PF mind you!

Well it has been a week and I feel that I am more my usual self… ;)

So it’s time to get back to my groove, but without forgetting my anti-thyroid meds. I may not have thyroid surgery after all, depending on how the medication goes this time.
